“ Free parking for 2 hours right outside the restaurant! First time here and I ordered the agedashi tofu appetizer and the volcano roll. The tofu itself was so soft and it was fried in a light batter that was super crunchy, so good!! The only downside was the broth was quite salty, but the fried tofu itself was perfection! The volcano roll was also really good, the sauce was spicy and creamy, and the sushi was nice and fresh! Overall really good. The service was awesome, my server was super friendly and they were very fast! Probably one of the best service I have had. Would give it a 4.5 overall, great sushi in the area! ”
“ Update: Omakase at Hokido Japanese Restaurant Omakase means "I'll leave it up to you" in Japanese. When in reference to eating sushi it means "chef's choice." To me, omakase is an experience: an opportunity to watch an experienced chef plate visually stunning and delightfully delicious servings of sushi. To celebrate my birthday, I decided to make a reservation at Hokido Japanese Restaurant to try their omakase. I was not disappointed. It was a wonderful experience on every level. Hokido Japanese Restaurant offers a four levels of omakase -- Regular, Silver, Gold, and Platinum -- so consider the number of courses listed for each level and how hungry you are when deciding which level you choose. Each level can be filling. For omakase, the chef assembles each course using the best selections of fish configured in imaginative ways. It takes time and effort. So, as you should expect, omakase is the most expensive item on the menu. The prices, per person, range between $125 to $200. Omakase at Hokido requires a reservation due to the necessary preparation. I believe they will want your reservation to be around 7PM. Also, the omakase meal takes time. Set aside plenty of time to leisurely enjoy the experience. And do take your time. Another matter to consider about omakase is where you sit during your meal. You will want to sit at the sushi bar so that you may watch your sushi chef work. It is definitely part of the experience to witness how a chef puts these visual and culinary masterpieces together. I chose the Platinum level, because of course I did. I had to fight my impulse to dig in to each course so that I could take a photo. In all seriousness, each course was almost -- really, almost -- too pretty to eat. But in consuming, the visual beauty combines with the textures and flavors to make a completely enjoyable experience. ”
“ First, they accept reservations for people like me that don't like to wait and hope for a table. As soon as we entered we were greeted and the service was impeccable through the dinner. They have an expansive menu that includes typical Japanese cuisine as well as a solid selection of sushi rolls and fish. My wife and I shared a nice bottle of sake and the food was delicious. This is a neighborhood gem. Definitely worth a visit! ”
“ My wife and I had dinner at Hokido because it's very close to our house and we felt like Sushi. I had read all of the Google reviews and saw they were uniformly excellent. And I must say, we were not disappointed in the service or the quality of the food at Hokido. I had the sushi Bento box and my wife has the sashimi special. Each of these was accompanied by a bowl of Miso soup which was very tasty. We noticed the place was rather empty during our lunch. This was concerning because we wondered why the place want packed since the reviews were all perfect. Notwithstanding, the service was great, Our questions were answered quickly and the quality of the sushi and sashimi were beyond reproach. Because the place is elegant, our next visit to Hokido will be during the dinner hour. We sincerely hope this restaurant gets the attention it deserves so it will be around for many years to come. ”
“ My husband and I decided to check this fairly new sushi spot on a Wednesday night. We started off by having seaweed salad, which was a small portion for $8.00, but it was good. We also ordered the Popcorn Okra, which was lightly fried okra and came with a ponzu sauce. The Ponzu sauce seemed bland for us, but the okra was nicely fried. For dinner, I ordered the Pink Lady which was just okay for me. Lot's of items on the menu has "spicy tuna" on it and I am not a fan, but decided to try it anyway. I wish they would have less "spicy" items on the menu. I also ordered several pieces of sashimi, like octopus, squid and (sake) salmon. However, there is one comment about the octopus, they were very small pieces and that disappointed me as you can see in my picture. Everything seemed fresh and good. I'd come again and try the ramen since I am a sucker for ramen, ”
“ After moving to GA, we wanted to find a great sushi and ramen spot. We were in luck when we found this cute little gem tucked away. It's very warm and cozy with a touch of elegance. I told my husband we had to come back for a date night. The atmosphere is of average noise level. The staff were ever welcoming and patient with me and my friends 6 kids (collectively). The kids enjoyed the house fried ramen, chicken fried ramen (pictured), and chicken teriyaki. They left nothing to take home. So I'd say it's safe to say they enjoyed it. The adults had the spicy ramen (good), the GA and MJ roll (very good), and my friend had two rolls pictured that were very delicious. I believe one was the volcano roll (but I may be mistaken with the name). I wanted to send my mine back to get hers, but they were all very good. My husband had the sushi negri, and it was very delicious. My son gad the regular tonkotsu, and he thoroughly enjoyed it. We will definitely be back soon for more sushi oh and gyoza. Most definitely a go-to spot. ”
“ Very good sushi for the area, I was very happy with the quality and service. We split a few appetizers, the veggie tempura, dumplings and then had soup and salad. All were very good and came in a nice sized portion. I opted for the sashimi which was a large offering of very fresh tuna, salmon, hamachi, mackerel and snapper. I also requested uni and they had several types to choose from. I opted for the California uni and it was super fresh and delicious. Service was very good and the prices were reasonable. ”
